Birmingham Pride 2007

Once again, the rain fell in bucketloads, and once again I was thwarted from performing and supporting Birmingham Pride........

Last year, bank holiday traffic meant that it took me the best part of 3 hours to get to Junction 10 on the M40. This year, I was actually in Birmingham city centre, having performed at the Wellington Hotel on the Saturday night, but Sunday morning, the view from my hotel bedroom window was one of gale force wind and torrential rain.

Being scheduled to appear on an open air stage at 3pm didn't fill me with any joy, so I took the decision to go straight to London as I had a gig there that night. However as I approached the M42, I got a call from Ruby, of the Birmingham Kopy Katz, reminding me that bad weather would mean the cabaret being transferred inside to the Village Inn, adjacent to the stage. I had completely forgotten that this was the arrangement and was slightly mortified by this. However I am glad that I took the decision to carry on as the rain, wind and water on the motorway resulted in appalling visibility and a journey of nearly 4 and a half hours to get to East Ham!

So, yet again, I offer huge apologies to Birmingham Pride for another non appearance. It's nothing personal. Honest!!
